A story of two sisters searching for purpose and meaning as they navigate the chaos of World War 2. The Nightingale takes the reader on a journey through the personal pain of two leading women protagonists and how they learn to survive, heal from family trauma, and move forward in a war-torn world.

I am not going to lie—I didn’t start getting into this book until about halfway. I was determined to get through it and kept on reading. Kristin Hannah did not disappoint! I was gripped to the end. I won’t give anything away, but I want to encourage anyone who picks this book up to stick with it. In the beginning of the story one of the main characters is extremely annoying at first, but then she redeems herself once she decides to grow up. I’m realizing all of Kristin Hannah’s books are really long, but 100% worth it. I am looking forward to reading many more of her novels.
